Dr Who something
I felt a small creative urge tonight. The result is rather untitled and unbeta'd. And unspellchecked.
It's silly, what we get into sometimes. I mean, I know the Doctor has so many talents, has cheated death so many times. He knows death and destruction and all that sort of thing.
But there's also the calm points. Having tea on a planet where people have four arms and there's a lute player in every cafe. Or like now, where we're in America, two English people playing basketball against some local kids. Not to save the world, not anything else, just to play basketball.
There's a sort of beauty in that. It's not all about saving the universe and risking our lives. Sometimes it's about the quiet things. The beautiful things. The things that don't go wrong.
I like that. I like those pauses in our adventures, the sense that even potential world-savers can take vacations from time to time. Even if sometimes those vacations turn out to be greater adventures than what we were vacationing from.
But it looks like today is not going to be one of our adventures. Just us, playing against youths in a small town. Not important. Not universe-affecting. Just us.
Just us and the world and the quiet and all. I toss the ball into the basket and grin.
