Fic: Nearly Named Georgia (Highlander, Tomorrow's Future universe)
Georgina "Greer" Lewis is one of the few OCs that I'd post on my main journal, because she's one of my oldest internet OCs. She first appeared in "Change of Perspective" in 1993. Yes, that long ago. Scary, isn't it? This is a short little ficlet that features her (and none of the main HL characters).
Title: Nearly Named Georgia
Author: EstiRose
Fandom: Highlander (Tomorrow's Future universe)
Rating: 8+
Summary: It's 1976, and Georgina Lewis finds out something while watching the election for Social Studies.
Wordcount: 209
Georgina Lewis watched the TV as the returns came in. Her Social Studies teacher had insisted that they pay attention to the election, even if it was years before they could vote. "Don't think Ford's going to win," her father said, folding his paper. "Alaska's going to go for him, I think."
They'd been studying the election in class. Gerald Ford was the current president, but he was there because the former president had been in a scandal. There had been some sort of pardon that Georgina didn't quite understand, and the news had said that it might hurt him. But her parents had made no secret that they were voting for Ford. "He's a good man," her mother had said. "I think he could do a good job."
"Carter's a governor, isn't he?" Georgina asked. That sounded right. He was a governor.
"Of Georgia, yes," her mother said, with a smile. "We almost named you that, you know, but your father wanted to name you after his uncle George."
Georgina smiled back. She'd met Great-Uncle George. She liked Great-Uncle George. But Georgia might have been easier to spell.
Oh well.
She turned her attention back to the election. She had to discuss it in school tomorrow.
