Fic: Keeping Close (Kamen Rider Kiva, Paradise Lost universe)

"Paradise Lost" is [livejournal.com profile] amazonstorm's universe, but she granted me permission a while ago to play in it. This is set in that universe, where the Fangire are triumphant and Wataru is a prisoner.

“Come on, Wataru, time to go home.”

Wataru looked up from his computer at the sound of his older brother’s voice, to see his older brother emerging from his office. He blinked and looked at the time on his computer and stretched; apparently it was time to go home.

“Yes, Nii-san,” he said, saving his documents and turning his computer off. The press was full of news about his older brother’s upcoming wedding, since humans didn’t understand that Fangire weddings were usually private; Taiga, however, gloried in the publicity that it was generating.

Wataru had his hands full with wedding planners and all the niddling details he wished he didn’t have to deal with. In an ideal world, he would be the one marrying Mio-san. They would get married, live their years out in happy bliss, have children. Now that he knew about his Fangire blood, he would have been just as happy - happier - with a Fangire ceremony, though his friends would have preferred a human one. Megumi-san especially; he was sure that she would have loved to fuss over the bride’s gown and the groom’s suit.

Megumi-san was married now, to Nago-san. Taiga hadn’t been really thrilled about the marriage, but Wataru had pointed out that neither of them had the IXA Knuckle. Plus, it made Wataru happy that his friends were happy.

He suspected that last point was what finally got his older brother to agree to the wedding.

Wataru walked out of D & P with his brother, as they always did. It wasn’t like Wataru really had a choice in the matter, after all. His brother was paranoid about his safety and the ambush that had happened really didn’t help dispel that paranoia. Wataru hadn’t been able to sleep in his own bed for weeks.

His older brother was paranoid that the only relative he’d acknowledge would disappear or die on him. Which, given how many people Taiga had lost, was somewhat justified. Wataru just wished that his older brother would not cling to him so tightly. And Wataru’s ‘parole’ made it so much easier for Taiga to keep his younger brother close.

Taiga handed him his motorcycle helmet and he got on the back of Taiga’s bike, wrapping his arms around his older brother’s torso. He suspected that Taiga loved Wataru being dependent on him. His older brother had taken Machine Kivaa, just like he’d sold Wataru’s childhood home. He clearly intended for Wataru to live with him for the rest of Wataru’s life.

Wataru had asked once what would happen if he fell in love and got married. Not that he was likely to fall in love with anyone; nobody could match up with Mio-san, and in any case, his brother was unlikely to approve marriage with a human. Make that he would refuse to marry Wataru off to a human. As far as he was concerned, Wataru was Fangire and it was forbidden for Fangire to love humans.

His older brother had told him that he’d welcome Wataru’s bride into their home, Wataru’s bed was big enough, and if things needed to change, they’d move into a bigger home, away from things. It was apparent that Taiga wanted his nieces and nephews to remain as close as his brother was.

It wasn’t like Wataru could go anywhere else, not until Taiga let him go. And Taiga wasn’t likely to let him go.

Taiga parked his bike in his private parking area before they took the lift up to their penthouse home. Once they were home, Wataru headed towards the kitchen; he himself was starving, though Taiga tended to keep their house light on food; as far as he was concerned, his little brother should be living on Life Energy, not human food, so Wataru almost felt like he was starving sometimes. He made a note to talk to his doctor again; maybe his doctor could persuade Taiga to buy more food.

Things would change, he knew, when Mio-san moved in. Mio-san loved cooking and he was sure that no matter what Taiga felt about Wataru’s food intake, he’d let it slide to let Mio do what she loved. Which meant that Wataru would get more to eat.

He’d just have to survive Taiga until then.

But he would survive Taiga. He could survive Taiga. Because he had survived Taiga so far.
