I ran across my copy of "Darksword Adventures" today.
This rather obscure RPG took place in the world of Thimhallan, where magic users were the norm, people without magic tended to be turned over to the authorities and killed, everybody floated, and nobody had sex. Really.
Anyway, the RPG had some rather interesting ideas, but I'm not sure about the power calcuations. For example, everybody was supposed to float, but a level (station) 1 character had a grand total of 50 points to do magic, which meant that they could float for about a minute before killing all their power. Apparently, nobody started at level 1. (Bizarrely enough, the stat blocks showed that characters had much higher power, but that didn't match with the table for character power.)
I located something that promised to fix the flaws in the system, but alas, it kind of didn't get completed. I'm hoping I'll run across something at some point, because it was kind of a neat system.
