The content strike
Mar. 22nd, 2008 12:49 pmTo put it simply, didn't succeed. The people who were skeptical of it had some good points; it was one day (would have been far more effective over a week), it was on a Friday, and on top of that *Good Friday*, where the numbers drop anyway. And maybe it was slactivism. (It did not help that the more antisemitic members on Russia's side of LJ decided to have in on the fun while most of the rest of us were screaming, "Get away! Get away!")
But I believe it succeeded, in a way. It opened up a dialog (mostly between users) about the importance of content on LJ, and it did get some press in Russia, where it counted.
( tl;dr )
