All of this is related to either my finish-a-thon assignment or Dungeons and Dragons Supplements, so please bear with me.

The Cobra Lily (which, despite its name, is a pitcher plant) is one of the few varieties of pitcher plant which doesn't produce its own enzymes. For that matter, it gets the water for its trap from the ground, because the hole in which the insects fly in doesn't point at the sky.

There are 27 kinds of visas in Japan. Some allow you to work, some don't. If you're working/have a visa, you can get another kind of visa with the correct paperwork. If you're in on a tourist "visa" from a country with a visa agreement with Japan (that is, you're exempt from getting a visa) like the U.S., you need to do more than paperwork.

And I've got to remember that Japanese people do reverse their names to western order out of courtesy to non-Japanese.

I ran across a copy of Complete Psionic and my copy of Dragon 319, both of which had the Erudite class in them. Here's the differences I've found:

1. The original Dragon Erudite had a unique powers per day similar to (but weaker than) a wizard. There was a chart which told you how many unique powers per power level one could use, and also a feat where you could increase any of them.

The revised CP Erudite has powers per day period, similar to the powers known of a Wilder. That is, they can use up to 11 unique powers/day.

2. The original Dragon Erudite could learn Discipline powers up to the highest level they could manifest. The CP Erudite can learn them up to the next-to-highest level.

3. The original Dragon Erudite cost a flat 20 xp, the revised one costs 20xp per erudite level.

(And minorly, Dragon Erudite got 3+Int bonus powers at start, while CP Erudite gets 2+Int bonus.)

Now, point three isn't a bad idea, point two is annoying, but I could live. But point one?

They effectively changed the erudite into a Wilder with less nifty stuff in trade for more powers known. But a Wilder has nifty powers (tm), whereas the Erudite just has the ability to get more powers. Yeah, an Erudite gets more choice in their powers, but they can choose one per game session/day. They can't overchannel or have any of the other powers a Wilder has. One power, no matter how many times they can channel it, does not survival make.

Unless I have a GM that absolutely insists on the official CP Erudite, I'll take the Dragon Erudite, thanks. They have a much better chance of survival.
