I rarely post stuff in Esperanto on fanfiction.net. Mostly because I find it hard to write in the language, also because, well, people only seem to read it when they're bored and hitting my profile.

I just got a review on Mocriproĉaj Vortoj, my one Esperanto fanfic. It's Kamen Rider Kiva, set episode 13.

Review:
Saluton! Mi feliĉas, ke mi finfine trovis kiel serĉi rakontojn per lingvo. Ŝajnas, ke ni havas malgrandan komunumon de Esperantlingvaj verkistoj. Hura!
Mi ŝatis vian rakonton malgraŭ, ke mi ne konas la karakterojn.

Translation:
Hello! I'm happy that I finally found how to search stories by language. Apparently, we have a small community of Esperanto-language writers. Hooray! I like your story, though I don't know the characters.

I'd like to know how he did a language-only search on ffn, but I'm hardly complaining.

Incidentally, fanfiction.net is doing a graphical stats-type program to eventually replace/merge with the stats section. The graphical stats are nice and pretty, but I hope that they continue to have the stats section, because it's very hard to tell from the graphs which stories got hit if you've got, say 31 fics.

Having looked at it, you can view the stats by story - but it's a bit of a pain in the rear if you have any more than about three stories.

Also, the language search is part of the main search page - though you do have to combine it with a keyword of some description.

Yo! 'Tis me, a guy who is slowly writing crappy fics in Esperanto for series you likely don't care about.

Anyway, you can't do a language search on FF.net so at those times, you simply search for a really common word (ex. "kaj") and then use the filter by language tool. I also do that to search for fics in Swedish and stuff.

As for writing fics in general..... Well, the more I use Esperanto the easier it gets to write in it from the beginning (I have to go back and improve the old translations/fics I did!!), but I think that translating and writing in it originally are separate skills. Actually, I think it's a good thing that they're separate skills, because you can try to write in it originally, then get stuck, write a bit in English/whatever other language, translate that, and just get more text overall. I've also started doing that with my new fics, so I just translate into Esperanto as I go and for some reason I end up able to write a bit more than otherwise.

I also have my own dictionary file where I put in words that I make up, or phrases for translations (ex. "in other words"), so I can just look things up quickly or glance through for word-related inspiration when I get stuck. Mostly I end up adding in tons of synonyms for stuff like "train station" LOL.
