Nano day 13

estirise26,097 words! Yay! That's slightly over half the project done (26000/50000), and I'm on day 13. (Admittedly around next week, Thanksgiving, I will be writing/posting really slowly, so it's not as grand as it sounds.)
I'm still in Chapter 4, which may or may not resolve in part 3 but certainly in heck didn't resolve in part 2.
And, not surprisingly, this thing is drawing away from Kabuto canon the more I write it. Kagami has yet to learn that being TheBee means being head of Shadow - Yaguruma is going to tell him at some point, but not yet - but has now left his job at the Bistro La Salle, something I really didn't mean to happen, but it did.
In show canon, ZECT of course is a secret organization, so most of its members tend to have civilian jobs (I'm saying tend to, because if Kageyama and Yaguruma had civilian jobs, nobody knows what they were). In this universe, where the Worms and ZECT are public, it's possible to work for ZECT full time. It's logical that a Rider would be called to be there on call/full-time. So that's exactly what I have Kagami do, despite his misgivings. I realize that he should be a bit more resistive; this Kagami wants to be both a rebel and his father's son at the same time. It's a bit annoying.
On the other hand, despite ZECT bringing in the new Riders (hosts) benignly earlier in the novel, it seems to be swinging closer to the series interpretation of "non-ZECT riders need to be killed". In this universe, the Worms would have forty zillion hissyfits if someone was killed or was forced to relinquish their Zecter, so ZECT can't do that, but it doesn't seem to be beyond dirty deeds to cement the Riders. How this will come into play with Tsurugi (who hopefully will still be Scorpioworm) and Daisuke will be interesting to see. Heck, I want to see how they deal with Tendou, now that Kagami has his hands full with his own (if temporary, unknown to him) Zecter.
I have a feeling headquarters, knowing that Kagami is supposed to be Gatack, won't be too pleased to discover he's taken up the wrong Zecter. But since they have no choice in the matter, they'll just have to live with it.
