Kanji and fandom secrets
Feb. 10th, 2008 05:17 pmI'm a bit rather deep into a fic right now, but I was discussing some stuff with
angel_negra, so I thought I'd post about it here, too.
First of all, for Kamen Rider Kiva, Wataru's kanji means to cross over or go across, which is fitting if you've been spoiled as to his origin. Otoya's name consists of the kanji for sound and one that's apparently an obscure "to be". (I thought it was "world", but apparently it's drawn differently and means something completely different....)
I have to admit, I never went much into the meaning of the characters' kanji last year. I was too busy, apparently, learning the kanji for "sakura" and "Nakamura". KR Blade's characters all had names having to do with the first or beginning of something (Mutsuki, for example, means first moon, and Hajime of course means begin; I can't remember Kenzaki's or Tachibana's at the moment.) The main Oni in Hibiki all had, I believe, sound-related names.
( And some murmuring related to a secret yesterday on Fandom Secrets )
