Yuto is getting older, more fascinated with things. Deneb has managed to enroll him at school, though that took some doing. Thankfully, the staff thinks him merely odd, not inhuman. They think he's a man in a costume.
The lack of a physical address was more a hindrance, but Deneb found a way around that too. Yuto might go to school alone, but Deneb is always there when he comes back.
Deneb has told the boy the story of Altair and Vega and Deneb so many times he has lost count. Sometimes it comforts Yuto, sometimes it seems to cause his charge and host more pain.
Always, there are the stars. Since he's staying in one time period, it's easy to keep track of time. Keep track of the stars. The stars are endless, they don't change radically and it's something little Yuto desperately needs.
He helps his host with homework, dodges thrown toys, takes him to enjoy the things that all children are supposed to enjoy. Eventually, Yuto will grow up; Deneb is tempted to take ZeroLiner and make sure things turn out okay.
But he doesn't. He's sure if he does, something will go wrong. Besides, he's pretty sure he has to take Yuto with him, which means while the child sleeps. And he'd rather be there if Yuto has nightmares. Again.
Someday, Yuto will grow up to be the man that Deneb knew. Why the man thought an Imagin was up to the task of raising him, Deneb doesn't know. This is part of his contract, so he doesn't question it too much. Besides, better to take care of a child than to cause death and destruction. Yuto is a project that will take years, but he will fulfill his contract. One way or another.
Someday, Yuto will become the man that Airi loves. Become the brother in law that Ryotaro likes. That's a long time, but Deneb is up to it. He has to be.
Because Deneb loves, too.
