And yes, I'm in the middle of my paper, and my NaNo, and I have homework. *sigh*
This is an episode where it was very talky, though with the help of comments all over the place and my own grasp (what there is of it) of Japanese, I was able to muddle through. But I can't wait for subs.
Anyway:
* Wataru spends the entire episode being manipulated. Everybody's realizing he can be useful to their cause (or needs to be killed).
* Taiga. Oh, Taiga. I'd love to understand your conversation on the bridge with Wataru, or your conversation with Bishop, but I'm missing a lot of it. I do get, however, that you want Wataru to be Fangire. Which makes sense, because he is your little brother and you do want to protect him and for him to be like you. But ordering Bishop to force Wataru's Fangire side to full awaken? Not cool.
* Nago and Megumi. Love you two for being loyal to Wataru over Shima.
* Kengo. I hope that you come to your senses. Otherwise, I hope that you get killed soon. Taiga is more than happy to do it over the assault on his brother.
* Shima. Good grief! Just because Taiga injured you doesn't mean that you should try to get Wataru killed. Wataru is not to blame for being half-Fangire. Plus, he's the son of a IXA wielder. Plus, you have managed to get Taiga pissed off. Though I thought he knew Wataru was Otoya's son?
* Mio. I know there's a lot of criticism of Mio in this one, but at least to me she makes sense here. She knows that Wataru is a gentle, sweet soul. She knows he's Fangire and Taiga's little brother. And she thinks that Wataru would be less likely to kill her for refusing to carry out Queen's duties. Plus, she's in love with him. He has the power to defeat Taiga, so why shouldn't he so that they can be King and Queen?
* Bishop. I'm sure he's so not thrilled with Taiga's instructions, but he does them anyway. That being said, I really prefer Bishop with his glasses on.
* Yuri. Poor girl. Poor, poor girl. But go you for slapping Otoya.
* Otoya. So deserved that slap, and is most definitely Maya's at this point.
* Arms Monsters. Ouch. Poor guys.
* King. Hell of a lot of power.
* Maya. Lovely in both eras, both talking to Yuri and talking to Wataru (about his father).
I think that this is going to be a really nasty fight. Kengo will reform or die next episode; I doubt Taiga's feeling too merciful about his attack on Wataru, though. Nago might kill Wataru, but it looks like from the preview that while it might not be fun, he ultimately comes to a good solution. Shima is probably dead meat.
On the Fangire end, I think Taiga might have set up his own doom. Wataru is the son of a Queen and half-brother to a King. With his Fangire side awakened, he could easily be Taiga's successor as King (which I think Mio hopes for too). And as soon as he's not in complete misery about killing/nearly killing his friends, he's going to be rather irritated at Taiga for forcing him.
And Wataru, I bet, will not be too pleased if he finds out he has to start eating life energy either.
So, my revised idea of the ending (some 10 episodes away, maybe) is that something Taiga says/does forces Wataru to take humanity's side and forces him to kill Taiga and Bishop. That being done, he becomes King, marries Mio, and they lead the Fangire to a new way of living with humans, perhaps encouraging children with humans.
Now to see how 1986 resolves....
