Sometimes I look at something and I think, "Hmmm. Maybe this works better as a round robin than a regular fic." Sometimes it works terrifically (there's a Earth: Final Conflict fic called "The Child" which worked beyond my wildest dreams), and sometimes it doesn't (too many tries to mention).

A round robin, for those unfamiliar, is where one person starts a fic, and then more people continue the story. So if I for example start with "Marie and Alex were walking in the park one day, hand in hand, their thoughts solely on each other, when a monster jumped out of the bushes", the next person could continue it with "Marie swatted it on the nose, and it disappeared in a puff of smoke. Alex turned to her, amazed, and asked how she did it." And then the original person (or a new writer) could continue it with "Marie shrugged. 'I just know these things,' she said mysteriously. 'Want to go for some ice cream?'" And so on and so forth. Except usually longer than my one-to-two sentence parts up there.

This one is a futurefic, and given that it's a futurefic, it's likely AU, and contains one of my pet theories. Right now, it's 8+, but likely will change as the fic evolves. It features Mitsuhide at the beginning, so as of right now, if you've seen the episodes where he's appeared, you're probably safe.

As he collapsed, Mitsuhide was pretty sure this was not how getting to know one's family roots was supposed to go. Nearby, he saw Megumi writhing in pain from the slash on her arm. Clutching his chest, which felt like he'd sustained a mortal wound, he looked at the monster that had claimed to be his and Megumi's father.

The wolf-like monster at least wasn't rending them at the moment; no, after he'd clawed Mitsuhide in the chest and Megumi in the arm, he seemed content to just stand there, as if guarding them.

Megumi was struggling to get up, to defend the two of them from the monster. The monster he'd brought them to, the monster that was sure to kill them. He was staring his death in the face - well, the body. Or something. Why the monster hadn't killed them completely, he had no clue.
