Wataru looked up from his work as his brother appeared. Putting down his tools, he waited expectantly for his brother to say something. He recalled that his brother's Sagarc was due shortly with his Kivat's child; he wondered if that had gone well.

"It went well," Taiga said, as if in response to his unspoken question. Wataru saw a small shape milling about in Taiga's pocket; was that Kivat's child? Almost in response, Taiga reached in and retrieved that small shape, offering it to Wataru.

"That's... a Sagat?" Wataru asked, as the baby being flew over to inspect him. It reminded him of both Kivat and Sagarc, not surprising, given its heritage.

"Yes," Taiga said proudly. "I've decided that it and its mother are going to live with you, now."

Kivat had swooped in to examine his child. "Hello there," he said cautiously. In return, the Sagat trilled at him, obviously recognizing the relation.

"But they argue a lot," Wataru said as he watched the baby and its surprisingly good relation with its father.

"That's why I'm having the family live with you," Taiga said. "That's what you're good at, Wataru, fostering peace. Besides, it's time for you to learn to don Saga."

"But Sagarc is your partner," Wataru replied, confused. As if in
response, Sagarc swooped in his window and came to hover beside him.

"She's yours, now," Taiga said. "Be a good example to the child and let her be of use to you."

Wataru gulped. If he was Kiva and Sagarc... Taiga was probably glad to get rid of the quarrellers and give them to him. He could let the two of them fight it out.

Or... do other things, obviously.

The tiny creature swooped closer to her and to one side, biting into one ear. "Ow," he moaned, trying not to swat the baby like a mosquito, but instead removing it gently from where it seemed to want to become an impromptu earring.

"I'm told Sagats do that," Taiga said, amused. "Don't wory, Wataru, it'll be only three decades before it's an adult. It'll stop biting you before then. I just thought you'd like a companion that's like you." He listened to the Sagarc. "Expect others."

A child of two duelling species. Wataru could understand that. More than one, too, it seemed.

He cradled the baby in his hand as it sat content, wondering at the small life form and wondering how it would change as it grew up. Would it someday be his partner, too? "Thank you, Taiga."

Taiga smiled. "Be happy, Wataru," he said, leaving the Sagarc and the Sagat behind.

His new Sagarc talked at him, spouting off something that he didn't understand, clearly protective of its child. He smiled at it. "It'll be okay."

It babbled in response, wrapping itself around his waist. He wondered if that was a hug or if the Sagarc was showing its child on how to join with a partner.

Not speaking Sagarc yet or quite sure if he did want a new partner, he let it cling to his waist as its baby dove into his shirt, maybe trying to emulate its mother. He smiled.

Somehow, there would be peace in the household. He'd see to it, he silently promised the Sagat. Because everybody deserved peace.
