Summary: Taiga will take care of his family's next generation.
Nurturing the Next Generation

Taiga looked down at his nephew Masao, who was peacefully sleeping in his crib. Having seen - and fought with - an adult Masao, he knew his nephew was going to turn out all right. But his nephew was his baby brother's first child, so he couldn't help but worry about him, especially knowing that Masao was going to have to fight to save human and Fangire alike someday.
The adult Masao had been a lot like his younger brother - stubborn, determined, optimistic. Knowing his nephew was only a quarter Fangire hurt - he was going to live such a limited lifespan, and Masao deserved so, so much more. And the Elders had been having screaming hissyfits about the fact that there was a quarterblood royal with a human lifespan in the first place, which meant that something had to be done about Masao's lifespan. He intended to start feeding Masao energy as soon as possible, then get him on the substitute energy as soon as he was sure it would be safe.
But even if Taiga couldn't make Masao into the Fangire he wanted Masao to be, he would love his nephew as much as possible. Masao was his family, he needed to be protected and nurtured and brought up with love. He would be human - Taiga was sure that Wataru would make sure of that - but he would be brought up as Fangire too, given the heritage that Wataru should have had from the start. And then he would make sure that this generation would have a Fangire wife, that his decendants would be Fangire like they were supposed to be. Masao would grow up around Fangire, play with Fangire children, and Taiga would get it right this time.
Eventually Taiga would have his Queen and Masao would have cousins - even if he was an old man by the time they were born. But in the meantime, Masao was the next generation. And Taiga would watch over Masao like he watched over Wataru - with love and the watchfulness that big brothers were supposed to do. Masao was his subject, his nephew, no matter how much Fangire blood he had, Taiga loved him.
Smiling down at Masao, he left the nursery and went back to making the world better for his nephew.
